Abstract
Gas discharge tubes, e.g. neon lamps, having envelopes wholly or substantially impermeable to ultra-violet radiations are employed as electrodes in diathermy apparatus producing current of high frequency, e.g. of the order of 50 megacycles per second or above, such as disclosed in Specification 4475/45 as open to inspection under Sect. 91. Where the patient is confined to bed, one output lead may be connected to a rubber-covered metal plate laid under the patient's body, or to the metal parts of the bed. Specification 527,777 also is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to the use of argon, helium and mercury vapour lamps. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
