Abstract

A process for obtaining a product utilisable in particular for causing rubber to adhere to another material, such as ferrous or light metals, polyvinyl chloride, thermosetting plastics, cement, p wood, polymethacrylate and glass, consists in dissolving rubber in a solvent, adding acrylonitrile and benzoyl peroxide to the solution, heating the solution until a tenacious jelly is formed, crushing said jelly, eliminating the solvent therefrom, drying and agglomerating the powder obtained, adding phenyl-b -naphthylamine to the agglomerate and kneading the mixture until, it is soluble in the usual rubber solvents. The product contains 10 per cent. combined acrylo-nitrile. Specification 32657/45, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, is referred to.
