594,731. Cycle carriers and seats. CAMPBELL, J. C. May 12, 1945, No. 11966. [Class 136 (i)] A pillion seat for cycles comprises a substantially horizontal platform 1 adapted to be secured to the bicycle frame by stays 2, 3, and having adjustably mounted thereon a seat or chair comprising a seat 6 provided with a back and sides 7 which are bolted to the carrier. The back and sides are preferably made of sheet metal, and are secured by bolts 5 to the rear of the carrier and by bolts 9 to the sides by means of strips 8 which have a number of securing holes 10 enabling the seat to be tilted or inclined. The carrier platform is provided with adjustable footrests 15 mounted upon depending brackets 14 secured at each side of the carrier platform. A handle bar 12 may be fitted behind the saddle 13 or it may secured to the chair. All the additions to the carrier are detachable so that the platform can be used for carrying parcels and the like whilst the bolt holes 16 in the depending flange 17 of the carrier may be used for securing a sheet metal hopper for carrying light goods.
