[Class 20(iii)] A vertically sliding window, e.g., for vehicles, provided with spring balancing means as described in Specification 497,453, is manually operated by a transversely moving member connected to a lever arm of the balancing device. In the form shown, this member comprises a pulley m, on a lever o pivoted to the lever arm e of the balancing mechanism j, and moved along a fixed guide rail l by a handle n. Alternatively the member may comprise a carriage having rollers, or a slide. The rail l may be slightly inclined or curved.
