Abstract
A coating or impregnating composition comprises a major proportion of hydrocarbon wax and a minor proportion, e.g., up to 8 per cent., of a lead soap of a saturated fatty acid with at least 12 carbon atoms. The wax may be a mixture of paraffin wax and petrolatum or microcrystalline wax. The fatty acid may be stearic or palmitic or the acid of hydrogenated lard, cottonseed, soya bean, corn, linseed, rape, mustard seed oil or hydrogenated fish oil. The composition may also contain up to 10 per cent. of stabilized rosin. Specification 456,820 is referred to.
