593,127. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc. Jan. 12, 1943, No. 569. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1942. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXXIII] An aircraft control surface is provided with an internal flexible diaphragm connected at one or more points to supporting means outside the control surface, and with gyroscopic control means for producing a pressure difference in the two chambers formed by the diaphragm, so as to produce movement of the control surface. As shown, a servo-tab 13 pivoted to a main control surface 16 at 17 is divided into two air-tight chambers by a diaphragm 30, the chambers communicating with pipes 12<1>, 14<1>. These pipes are connected through a booster 19 to the two control nozzles 7, 8 of a pneumatic gyro-control, the gimbal ring 6 of which moves a semicircular plate 4 to control the nozzles. An anti-hunting device 20 as described in Specification 531,388 may act upon the block containing the nozzles, the block being set by a hand knob 28.
