598,723. Fluid actuation of switches. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23076. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1944. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXV] A gyro-controlled, two-way switch for the control of an aircraft &c., has its rotor axis vertical and is driven by air jets at 40 produced by exhausting from the outer casing 1, air admitted at 24 and passing through passages 29, 30 in the outer gimbal ring 79 and rotor housing 76 respectively, and reaching casing 1 through a port 41. Branches from the inlet system conduct the air to nozzles 32, 38 which are more or less obstructed by members 53, 61 in accordance with the altitude of the aircraft &c. on which the device is carried. These jets act via diaphragms 56, 66 on contact members 58, 67 so as normally to hold them in a central position but to cause them to make contact on one side or the other with pitching, rolling movements of the aircraft.
