Abstract
592,055. Contact spectacle lenses. BIER, N. Jan. 25, 1945, No. 2049. [Class 97 (i)] A.contact lens is provided with apertures, grooves or slots which permit the flow of lachrymal fluid and/or air in at the upper part of the lens, downwards over the inner face and away from the lower part of the lens while it is in position on the eye. A variety of arrangements of apertures are described. Fig. 4 shows two concentric rings of slots 36, 38, the latter arranged within the boundary 32 between the corneal and scleral portions of the -lens. A single ring of slots may be used or two concentric arcs and the slots may be circular or triangular in section. Alternatively, each arc may comprise a single slot or two such slots may be used. The slots 30, Fig. 13, may be at an angle or to the surface of the lens or perpendicular thereto. In Fig. 19, the lens has grooves 98, 102 in the upper and lower portions respectively or the grooves may be replaced by radial slots. Specification 510,946 is referred to.
