608,892. Lens systems. GARUTSO, S. E. Feb. 21, 1946, Nos. 5437 and 5438. Convention dates, March 7, 1945, and Oct. 25, 1945. [Class 97 (i)] To increase the depth of field of a lens and to produce an improved stereoscopic effect, an objective has associated therewith one or more balancing lens elements, each of which has a central non-refractive area and a peripheral refractive zone. Fig. 4 shows an objective comprising elements 22, 23, 24a, 24b and balancing elements A, B, C, D comprising biconvex lenses having a central circular aperture. A triplet lens is also described having before it a single balancing element. Specification 335,696, [Class 97 (i)], is referred to.
