591,527. Lamp supports. CROMPTON PARKINSON, Ltd., RANDALL, A. L., TEMPLETON, F. J., and SEABORNE, F. May 11, 1945, No. 11898. [Class 75 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] An inductance used as a choke in the supply to a discharge lamp has a body part which forms part of the suspension system for that lamp and a top cover which may be spaced apart from the body part without complete detachment. The choke coil 2 is mounted in a core 1 to the faces of which flanges or casings 3 are fixed by the bolts which hold the core laminations together. In the upper casing are terminal blocks 4, 5 and in the lower casing terminal block 11. Tappings from the choke are connected to block 5, and one connection from the supply line to the leads 12 to the lamp 26 is made through conductor 6, coil 2, block 5, movable lead 8, block 4, conductor 9, block 11, and the other connection through conductor 7, block 4, lead 10, block 11. Top and bottom covers 13, 24 are provided for the casings 3 and after removal of nut 20, by sliding studs 16 on upper casing 3 in slots 10 in lugs 14 fixed to cover 13, this top cover may be completely removed from the choke structure or opened only sufficiently to allow access to terminal blocks 4, 5. In a similar manner the bottom cover 24 can be removed or opened for access to terminal block 11. The pin and slot connection may be replaced by hinged links.
