591,073. Voltage measurements. HAEFELY & CIE.. AKT.-GES., E. April 26, 1945, No. 10528. Convention date, Sept. 1, 1944. [Class 37] In apparatus for measuring high alternating voltages by means of a capacitative potentiometer, the mean phase difference between the total voltage to be determined and the voltage. measured is compensated by an ohmic resistance inserted in the high voltage part of the potentiometer. A resistance 6 is connected in series, as shown, or in parallel with the H.T. component 1 of a capacitative voltage divider 1, 2. Voltage measurements are taken as a ratio of the H.T. voltage across the secondary of a transformer 4 whose primary is connected through a choke 3 across the L.T. component 2 of the capacitative voltage divider 1 or 2. The resistance 6 produces a phase-shift of the H.T. voltage approximating to that produced in the L.T. measuring circuit under average conditions of impedance burden 5. The ohmic resistance when connected in series has a spark-gap 7 or other protective means against voltage surges.
