Abstract

590,988. Carburetting-apparatus. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. July 4, 1945, No. 17082. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1944. Addition to 590,960. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (vi)] In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the pressure of the spring 112 loading the fuelsupply valve diaphragm 74 of the fuel and air supply system described in the parent Specification, is controlled by movement of the throttle 39 which makes or breaks a switch 136 to control a circuit including a solenoid 122 actuating the plunger 116. The circuit is closed after the throttle has been opened a predetermined amount by an adjustable screw 150 carried by an arm 148 which is normally held in contact with a stop 158 on the throttle lever 48 by a spring 156, the spring permitting the throttle to be fully opened. Instead of being carried in a yoke the fuel supply valve 80 is mounted on a stem 90 secured to the diaphragm. In modified' constructions (1) the switch is closed after a predetermined opening of the throttle by a spring-pressed pin carried by a plug screwed into the throttle lever and (2) the. throttle lever carries an adjustable arm 174 (Fig. 3) provided with a contact pin 176 which slides in an arcuate groove 182 in a sector 180 of insulating material. When the pin 176 engages an elongated contact plate 184 the circuit to the solenoid 122 is completed.
