Abstract
590,071. Electric sealing irons. LYTEZE FIRELIGHTER CO., Ltd., and WARREN, W. T. Oct. 4, 1944, No. 19010. [Class 39 (iii)] In sealing irons for sealing adhesive wrapping papers having an electrically heated unit at the end of a tubular shank 10 carried by an insulating handle, the heating unit is a shallow box 1 having a top lid 2 giving access to a removable electric heating element therein without removing the box from the shank. The box is oblong and has a convex sole with rounded edges and the lid is wholy removable with screws 3. The shank 10 is fixed to an end wall of the box at a slight angle thereto and has fins and apertures 16 to disperse heat. The heating element is enclosed in mica insulation in a metal sheath and leads therefrom carry insulating beads and through an end wall of the box, through the shank 10 into the handle 18. The leads from the heating unit are attached to an electric connector in the handle with connector bars between separate terminals for these leads and for the supply leads passing through a flexible tube 42 into the handle which has a removable part 19, as described in Specification 590,072, [Group XXXVI], which is referred to.
