Abstract

[Class 39 (iii)] The enclosure 1 for a detachable heating element 2 of an electric soldering iron is detachably connected by a cap 5 to an enclosure 3 for a holder 4 for the heating element. The enclosure 1 is formed with sloping sides and a soldering bit 6 is mounted at the thicker end with a portion 7 projecting into the heating element. The thicker end of the part 1 causes an increased heat transfer to the bit at the shoulder 8. The element 2 may be provided with plug and socket connections as in Specification 553,293.
