Abstract

590,010. Making bread. BOWKER, H. W., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. Dec. 20, 1944, No. 25580. [Class 28 (i)] To enable enough dough pieces to be delivered from a proving chamber A-B to keep the oven conveyer 2 stocked with dough, the endless chains 4 of a prover 3 are driven in synchronism with the oven conveyer by an electric motor through reduction gearing to the shaft by a sprocket 35, which is controlled by a starting and stopping switch 6 driven from the drag shaft 1 of the oven conveyer which thereby controls the prover conveyer. When started the prover conveyer is intermittently stopped and started through a switch 16, so as to stop the trays 5 containing the dough carriages at the point A, whereby the carriages can be run out along rails 34 to enable dough to be placed by hand on to the oven conveyer 2. The box 13 in the oven conveyer contains the switch 6 operated by a drag shaft 1. B is the feeding point where dough pieces are placed in the prover and A is the delivery point on to the oven conveyer plates at the beginning of the oven feed. The prover conveyer is adapted to open the switch 16 actuated by a hump on a sprocket wheel 12 driven by the conveyer chains. The shaft 1 of the oven conveyer operates the starting and stopping cam 8, Fig. 2, of the switch 6 for the motor of the prover conveyer 4. The stopping and starting switch 16 is adjustable by means of a hand wheel 21 whereby the trays 5 can be adjusted to stop exactly at the delivery point A without overrun. Visual indication of the starting of the prover conveyer is provided by means of a switch arm 23 to show that the prover conveyer is about to begin movement. The switch 6 and the switch 16 are in parallel and in series with the coil of contactor controlling the motor circuit.
