589,927. Spring-operated clamps. ROWLAND, J. H., and PIPER, D. N. March 3, 1945, No. 5372. [Class 44] In a two-jaw spring-operated clamp comprising two identical members 1 which present at one end co-acting clamping jaws 2 (furnished with recesses 6, 7 for a line in the case of a clothes peg), and at the other end serrated hand grips 3, the members 1 each have, on opposite sides, substantially semi-circular lugs 8 recessed at 9, and waisted on both sides at 11 to receive two simple bow springs 12, one on each side of the clamp, to hold the members 1 in pivoted assembly and resiliently urge the jaws 2 together. The bows of the springs engage in the recesses 9 on the lugs 8, two co-acting limbs 12a being offset from the bow to engage in recesses 10 in the inclined inner faces 5 of the hand grips 3. The members of the clamp may be of various materials, such as plastic or metal. In a modification, instead of two bow springs, a single spring may be bent up, having the requisite two bows and four limbs. '
