[Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] The object is to clip together horizontal and vertical tabular scaffolding members by simple means without the use of bolts or loose parts, and the invention consists in a clip of spring steel shaped so that it has to be sprung into position over at least one of the scaffolding members, in which position it frictionally engages the two members and holds them in contact. In the example shown in Fig. 3 the clip 1 is of U- shape in plan and embraces the vertical member 2 over half its periphery. The limbs are bent upwards, as at 3, to form hook-like portions 4 which are sprung over the horizontal member 5 and embrace substantially half its upper periphery, their ends extending downwards below its horizontal diameter. The ends are bent outwards as at 6 to engage a tool for spring- ing the clip on and off the horizontal member. Fig. 3 shows a clip bent-up from spring steel of rectangular cross-section but the clip may be stamped from sheet steel or produced from a steel stamping or forging which is bent to a U- shape. By making a lateral kink in one of the limbs two U-shaped clips may be used together, one hooking over the horizontal scaffolding member and the other under it. According to the Provisional Specification, the clip may comprise two hook-like portions in planes at right angles to each other, one hook engaging partly around the vertical member and the other hook engaging partly around the horizontal member of the scaffolding.
