Abstract
588,113. Foundry cores. PEGLERS, Ltd., and SMITH, C. M. Dec. 27, 1944, No. 25896. [Class 83 (i)] In casting a hollow article from non-ferrous metal, such as brass or bronze, in a die, a core is used which consists wholly or in part of a metal having a lower melting point than that of the cast metal. The core may be reinforced by solid or tubular inserts b, c of metal having a higher melting point than that of the cast metal and these are arranged so that they can be easily withdrawn from the cast article d after the core parts a, a<1>, which may be of zinc or an alloy thereof, have been melted out. The inserts b, c may be secured by casting the parts a, a<1> thereon.
