Abstract

586,606. Heated drying cupboards. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and WILLIAMS, G. A. Aug. 16, 1944, No. 15608. [Class 34 (i)] In an electrically heated cupboard 1 for drying and airing clothes &c. an electric fan 8 withdraws air from the cupboard through a screened opening 5 in the botton thereof and redirects it back to the top of the cupboarc through a duct or ducts 9 located at the back or sides of the latter and housing a heating element 10. The cupboard stands on a hollow base or plinth 3, in which the fan 8 and its motor 7 are mounted and which is provided with adjustable vents 12 to permit some of the moisture-laden air to escape to atmosphere, make-up air being admitted to the cupboard through apertures 15, 16 respectively at the upper and lower ends of the cupboard door 2 which is hollow. The base is also provided with ducts, separated by a partition 8' for the circulation of cooling air through the fan motor 7, and with a drip tray 18 below drainage holes in the bottom of the cupboard for the collection of any moisture deposited on the latter. A protective thermal cut-out 19 may be located above the heating element 10 in the duct 9 to open the circuit of the element in the event of an excessive air temperature due, e.g., to failure of the motor 7. Adjustable racks 11 are mounted within the cupboard.
