Abstract
A rectifier manufacturing process comprises heating a baseplate of metal, e.g., iron or nickel coated iron to a temperature exceeding 240 DEG C. coating the plate with selenium or a mixture of selenium and a halogen or its compounds, e.g., selenium containing 0.08 per cent. iodine, exposing said coated plate to a temperature of 270 DEG C. or more and then rapidly cooling it down, the heating and exposure times being adjusted to give optimum values of electrical conductivity and preferably of rectification ratio.
