585,690. Photographic shutters. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and CLIFFORD, T. W. Feb. 23, 1945, No. 4617. [Class 98 (i)] A photographic shutter assembly, comprising apertured front and rear bodies fitting one into the other and carrying. the shutter blades between them, has a spring or similar locating means acting radially between the two bodies to urge them into contact at two reaction points or zones lying on opposite sides of the diameter passing through the point of application of the-locating means. As shown in Fig. 2, the periphery of the annular plate-like portion B<1> of the front body has a segment B<3> cut away at the circumference, and a leaf spring A<3> riveted to the cylindrical part A<2> of the rear body acts against the adjacent rim of the front body, the location of the parts being determined by a three-point support. The bodies are secured together by flat shouldered screws B<2> with ample clearance in the aperture in the front body through which the screw passes. Three arcuate seating surfaces c<1>, c<2>, c? relieve the inner face of the rear body where it coacts with the front body, the securing screws passing through these surfaces. A helical or compression spring may replace the leaf spring A3, and the reaction zones a<2>, a<3> may be constituted by the shoulders at the end of a chordal-flat on the front body or by pimples, cylindrical pins or balls, projections or distance pieces carried by either body. Retarding mechanism of the gear train type may be accommodated in the cut-away portion.
