Abstract

585,194. Fastenings. SPEGELSTEIN, E. Nov. 8, 1944, No. 21981. [Class 44] In a hasp fastening having fixed members 1, 6 on lid and body respectively of an attache case, or the like, a hasp 5, hinged to the member 6 has an edge 9 which is pressed into and grips an upstanding portion 3 of a tongue 2, when the lid of the case is forced away from the body, due to pressure of the contents of the case. The edge 9 may be serrated or a projection 10, on the tongue, may co-act with a recess 11 in the edge. A spring 7 presses the hasp into the closed position. The tongue 2 engages within a slot 8 in the member 6.
