Abstract

584,823. Rotary distributors. ROTAX, Ltd., ARNOT, A. R. E., and ROBINSON, E. E. Jan. 24, 1945, No. 1949. [Class 38 (v)] A totally-enclosed distributor for use with aircraft engines comprises a closed chamber within which is mounted a spindle f carrying a rotary electrode i, which co-operates with fixed electrodes d and is fed by a brush k sealed in the casing. An armature m on the spindle f co-operates with poles p of an external annular permanent magnet o driven by a shaft n. One of the tips of the armature is laterally displaced from the other, and the co-operating pole is correspondingly shortened so as to ensure correct assembly. The Provisional Specification describes a modified means of effecting the latter.
