Abstract

A process of the type in which thermosetting plastic or thermoplastic articles are provided with labels or coverings during moulding, consists in laying the label, which consists of a reverse print on a thin sheet of absorbent paper, face downwards on the surface of the article while the latter is hot and tacky in the mould. The curing process is subsequently completed, heat and pressure being applied to the label to embed it in the plastic. The plastic penetrates into the fibres of the label, making them transparent, so that the print becomes visible on the outside. The label may be previously impregnated with a solution of an artificial resin to render it transparent. In this case, a lacquer, or other coloured material may be applied as a backing to the print.
