Abstract
583,107. Centrifugal separators. MODE, W. F. May 25, 1945, No. 13146. [Class 23] A cyclone separator has an adjustable partition 8, 6, which separates the lower dustcollecting chamber into two concentric spaces, the inner space, around the gas outlet 3, receiving the inner cleaner layer of gas, and the outer layer having to pass around a cone 10, up through openings 11, around a baffle 12 and impinging on the inside of a cone-piece 13, before passing away through the outlet 3. The partition may be raised or lowered by means of handles 18, counterweights 16 being provided. The outer space, between the cone 8 and the casing 1a, increases in cross-sectional area downwards, causing a slowing-down of the gas, and consequent deposition of dust on to a floor 9. Dust also collects inside the tube 6 closed by a door 7. The partition 8, 6, may be oscillated about its axis to shake down dust lodging around openings 15. For dust-emptying purposes, the partition is lowered to bring the floor 9 outside the casing part 1b, the edge 8 closing on the inner surface of the casing 1a and a seat 5a receiving the cone 10. A guide sleeve 5 is supported by a spider 4.
