Abstract
582,916. X-Ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 2, 1944, No. 18798. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] An X-ray generator has a heavy rotatable anode 13 comprising a tubular body 15 of black coated copper having a closed end 27 with an axial stem 28 on which are mounted a cup-shaped molybdenum shield 33 and a disc 34 of solid tungsten. The skirt 36 of the shield closes the gap between the disc 34 and the anode end 27 and serves also to stream-line the disc and avoid the field gradient set up by the sharp edge of the disc. The shield 33 is coated with zirconium, chromium, vanadium, or titanium to increase the emissivity factor of the anode. The anode is mounted on bearings 16 and driven by rotor 19 as described in Specification 542,665.
