Abstract

582,648. Reamers. SHAW, F., and MILLINGTON, E. D. Aug. 2, 1944, No. 14796. [Class 83 (iii)] An expanding reamerof the inserted blade type has an inner member a having two circumferential bevels a<1> on which the inside edges of the blades b locate. A body member c is fitted over the blades to locate them radially, and is prevented from rotation by screws d engaging in slots a<2> in the inner member a. The ends of the blades form inclined surfaces upon which rings e and f register to impart movement to the blades. The assembly when adjusted is clamped by lock-nut i and adjusting nut j. A ring m is graduated to indicate the setting of the reamer in conjunction with graduations on adjusting nut j and can be locked by a loose key member n. Blades are not parallel with the axis of the body, but may be inclined alternately in opposite directions or sets of blades may be alternately inclined.
