Abstract

582,627. Toothed gearing. GAZDA, A. June 18, 1943, No. 9846. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1942. [Class 80 (i)] Teeth of gear wheels are made more yielding by slitting the teeth either longitudinally or transversely by a slot which extends downwardly to a point below the pitch line or circle of the gear, but short of the root circle, each slot terminating at the bottom thereof in a rounded surface. The teeth 11, Figs. 1, 2 are slotted at 16 throughout their length 20 to the bottom of the slot extending below the pitch circle 12 but short of the root circle 6 and terminating in an enlarged rounded bore 21. In Fig. 6, the slot 28 is transverse to the length 41 of the tooth and again terminates in a rounded or enlarged borelike shape 29. More than one of such slots may be provided. In Fig. 9, the slot 16<1> is longitudinal but extends for only a part of the length of the tooth. The invention is applicable to all forms of toothed gearing.
