Abstract

An insulating and dielectric medium suitable for use with radio currents of different frequencies extending over a range of at least 10 megacycles per second, consists of a mouldable non-conducting material having a metal in a finely-divided state distributed therethrough in a quantity sufficient to endow said composition with a ratio of reactance to resistance of a predetermined value which is substantially constant or increases with the frequency of the current. The metal is preferably copper or silver and the non-conducting material polystyrene, a phenol aldehyde, urea aldehyde or a furfural resin. A mixture of 10 per cent copper powder and 90 per cent polystyrene gives a medium in which the above ratio is substantially constant. If the amount of copper is increased up to 70 per cent, then the above ratio rises with increasing frequency. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 407,602, [Group V], 446,660, [Group VI], 458,505 and 497,689.ALSO:An insulating and dielectric medium suitable for use with radio currents of different frequencies extending over a range of at least 10 megacycles per second, consists of a mouldable non-conducting material having a metal in a finely divided state distributed therethrough in a quantity sufficient to endow said composition with a ratio of reactance to resistance of a pre-determined value which is substantially constant, or increases with the frequency of the current.
