[Class 20 (iii)] In means for operating window blinds of vehicles a lazy-tongs linkage is attached to the blind and operated by a screw or worm rotated by a reversible electric motor the circuits of which are automatically controlled by the operating means. As shown in Fig. 1, to the blinda is attached a lazy-tongs linkage b with an additional link d to prevent tilting of the blind. The other ends of the lazy-tongs are attached to nuts f on a right and left hand screw e rotated by a reversible electric motor (not shown), and when the blind reaches either limit one of the nuts f contacts an end k of a trip piece j which automatically switches off the motor by a projection m actuating a two-way tumbler switch n, the motor being restarted in the opposite direction by a complementary twoway hand switch. As shown in Fig. 2, the ends of the lazy-tongs are pivoted to oscillatory arms o, pivotally supported in a housing p open at the top and having a flexible dust-protecting covering x. The other ends of the arms o are formed so as to intermesh with a worm h connected through reduction gearing to the motor s, and on one of the arms is mounted a two-way switch t with an actuating lever u, which is reversed by a stop v when the blind reaches either limit. One of the stops v may be adjustable as at w. In a further modification, the worm h is connected to the motor s by a flexible belt passing over pulleys, and the motor is automatically switched off by parts of one of the arms o contacting one of two fixed switches, one of which may be adjustably mounted.
