Abstract

[Classes 78 (i) and 78 (v)] The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by providing means whereby the forkdragging cable is utilized to draw the machine toward the dump, and by mounting the elevator parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine instead of cross-wise. The machine is normally prevented from approaching the dump under the pull of the cable 24 by a ramp 7 which is pivotally held at 8 to the down-turned arms 3 of the frame 4 and is held vertical by links 11. The weight of the machine then rests on the wheels 2 and the bottom edge of the ramp 7, which thus offers sufficient frictional resistance against the ground to prevent bodily movement of the machine. The links 11 are telescopic, and by removing a peg 11a to allow them to extend, the ramp 7 may be brought to the inclined position shown in the broken lines. If the cable 24 be then passed round a sheave 30 attached to the ramp 7, a pull thereon will cause the machine to travel. The motor 9 is geared at 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 to drive through a clutch a drum on which the cable 24 is wound, and also through a chain 23 the lower roller of the elevator 22. The' clutch may be operated from the fork by mechanical, electrical or fiuid pressure means, and may be of the plate, cone or dog type.
