Abstract
579,994. Contacting solid, powdered, and granular resistances. CLARK, C. H. W., and STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd. Feb. 25, 1944, No. 3524. [Class 37] A resistance having a non-ohmic currentvoltage relationship comprises a plurality of conducting titanium oxide refractories arranged in series contact with each other with or without other conducting material interposed between them. The refractories may be in the form of thin plates and may have interposed metal conductors, which may be formed on the surface of the refractories by spraying or other means. Alternatively a quantity of granules of crushed conducting ceramic material, varying in size from fine powder to about 1 millimetre across, are contained in a porcelain tube having brass terminal plugs secured to the walls of the tube and arranged so that the granules are lightly compressed. Instead of arranging the granules loosely they may be bonded together by a glaze. Specifications 467,113, [Group V], and 467,190 are referred to.
