Abstract

1400175 Electrostatic coating HUGO BRENNENSTUHL KG 14 July 1972 [19 July 1971] 33143/72 Heading B2F Apparatus for coating a body with pulverent or granular particles or flakes or fibres has an insulating support 17 for the material, a counter electrode 18 permeable to the material and a further electrode 15, an a.c. voltage being applied between the further electrode 15 and the counter electrode 18 to create an alternating field to shake the material free from the support 17, a d.c. electric field being applied so that material after being shaken free is hurled on to the body 16 to be coated. The a.c. voltage may oscillate about a voltage above zero. Embodiments are described in which the support is cup shaped (Figs. 4, 6 not shown), L-shaped (Fig. 5 not shown) and tubular (Figs. 7-9 not shown).
