Abstract

579,454. Mixing-apparatus. WINGET, Ltd., and STANCLIFFE, C. W. April 14, 1944, No. 6927. [Class 86] In a method of mixing concrete, layers 1, 2 of sand and cement, respectively, are deposited above a layer 3 of coarse aggregate on an endless eonveyer belt 12, and rotary stirrers 8 mix the cement and sand but do not extend into the layer of coarse aggregate. Before the cement and sand are mixed, water may be added from a container 5, having an outlet controlled by a valve 6, operated by a lever 7. The partially mixed materials may be further mixed, with or without the addition of water, either whilst still on the belt 12 or in a separate mixing device.
