Abstract

578,172. Index cards. PARFITT, A. W. (Lampel, B.). June 9, 1944, No. 11059. [Classes 16 and 146 (i)] Index cards 3 are each filed in an upright position by engagement in a holder 1 comprising a strip folded lengthwise .to form a channel to receive the upper end of the card, extensions being provided at each, end of the holder adapted to rest on the guide rods of a filing- device. Each extension may have one or more notches 8 therein to slide on the rods and to allow lateral displacement pf the card. The holder is bent at 6, the front limb 4 being longer than the rear limb 5, and tongues 10 struck out of the front limb engage in slots 9 in the card. If the holder is not transparent, a window, is formed in the limb 4 so that indicia on the cards can be seen. Index tabs.-The holder 1 is slotted at 11 for the passage of index tabs 12 which may be cross-shaped or, as shown, T-shaped and ribbed at 14 to prevent displacement. Instead of tabs, the top of the card 3 may be notched or coloured in parts, or U-shaped staples may be clipped thereon to lie within the holder.
