UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE INDEX iCARD Zurich, Switzerland Original application December '7, 1943, Serial No.

1 lClaim.
The present patent application is a division of my patent application Ser. No. 513,287 filed December '7, 1943, now abandoned.
The invention relates to cards for visible card indexes which cards are transversely folded at the top to form a double card having a, front portion and a back portion. With cards of this type it is difficult to x the ordinary markers 0r tabs. This drawback is overcome by the double index card according to the present invention in as much as tabs consisting of strips are inserted in slots provided along the fold of the double card.
Preferably the tabs are of wedge shape and inserted from the inner side of the cards into these slots and bent down on the front portion of the card.
.A constructional example of a double card according to the invention is illustrated on the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the double card in a, perspective View,
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the double card, f
Fig. 3 shows on a larger scale a fragmentary section of a double card with its visible index strip in the rearwardly inclined position, and
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary view of the visible index strip with a, tab.
The double card consists of a front panel I9 and a rear panel 20 folded at the top. The front panel is provided with a visible index strip 2| and immediately below the latter with a folding line 22. The rear panel 20 is shorter than the front panel so that by a pressure on the top fold the rear panel is pushed downwardly, whereby the visible index strip 2| takes up an inclined posi- ('Cl. 12S-16.7)
2 tion (Fig. 3) so that with the cards placed in a filing device the writing on the visible index strip is better visible.
In the upper fold of the double card slots 23 are provided (Fig. 1), into which Wedge-shaped tabs 24 (Figs. l, 3 and 4) can be inserted from the inside of the double card, the projecting end of the tab is bent down towards the front. In this manner tabs 24 can be fixed to the card in a simple and reliable manner.
I claim:
A double index card having a front panel and a rear panel and being folded at the top, the rear panel being of less height than the front panel and the front panel being provided with a visible index strip and below the latter with a folding ridge, said card having slots along the top-fold and wedge-shaped tabs inserted from the inner side of the card in said slots and having their projecting ends bent down onto the visible index strip of the front panel.
