Abstract

Esters of a -acetaminoacrylic acid, such as the methyl, ethyl and butyl esters, are polymerized alone or with acrylonitrile, styrene or methyl methacrylate, in mass, solution in water or ethanol, in emulsion or dispersion. Benzoyl peroxide, ammonium persulphate and oxidizable sulphoxy compounds such as sodium sulphite may be present. The polymeric esters are soluble in water and dimethylformamide is a solvent for the acrylonitrile-methyl ester copolymer. Specified uses are in photographic filters and as a water-resistive adhesive layer for stripping films.
