Abstract

577,404. Converting. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. May 6, 1944, No. 8614. Convention date, May 7, 1943. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] In a converter, two or more mechanicallyindependent vibrators are connected together electrically so that operation of one controls operation of the others. In the form shown, a " master " vibrator 10 is operated by a driving magnet 15 energized by a battery 12 through an " interrupter " contact 16 and the make and break at contact 16 serves to energize intermittently the driving coil 20 of the driven vibrator 19, so that this operates in synchronism with the master vibrator. The natural frequency of the driven vibrator is arranged to be slightly greater than the natural frequency of the driving vibrator and it will operate 90‹ out of phase with it. The vibrators serve to energize alternately the halves of the centre-tapped primaries of two transformers 23, 24, the secondaries of which are connected together to provide a two-phase output at 13, 13a, 13b.
