[Class 34 (i)] [Also in Groups VIII, XXIV and XXXIV] A roller &c. has. a covering or tread surface consisting of a number of similar rings Ac. a of any desired material, wedge-shaped in crosssection, with spacer rings d, having a wedgeshaped portion between the rings a, the rim b, c of the roller being divided into a plurality of sections drawn together by bolts e so to clamp the rings a in place. The spacer rings d which are kept apart by the rings a are provided with inner parts to receive the surfaces of the rings a and also to fit the rim b, c, which is spigoted and formed at each end with a wedge surface for the outer rings a.
