Abstract

577,304. Fairleads. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and MILLS, A. E. Sept. 14, 1944, No. 17575. [Class 78 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A guide-roller arrangement for a rectilinearly moving rod comprises a fixed cage with a plurality of flexible arms, or spring-loaded pivoted arms, each of which carries a wheel or roller urged into contact with the rod. A cage 1 is formed with three pairs of lugs 2, 2<1> with each pair of lugs 2, 2<1> serving for the pivoting therebetween of the two limbs of a U-arm 6 which has a roller wheel 7 mounted between the two limbs of the arm ; the roller wheels are urged into contact with the rod 10 by a splitspring ring 9 which engages over hook lugs 61 formed on the outer (base) end of the U-arms 6. A strengthening flange 5 extends over the spaces between the lug pairs. The movement of the pivoted U-arms is limited by the wide ends of the arm limbs butting against the base of the cage. The cage and arms may be of a plastics material with an electrically conductive metal reinforcement.
