[Class 131] In a dry shaver of the kind in which the ends of the shearing head are closed by flaps the latter are arranged to be opened by the fingers of the hand holding the shaver and in addition the shearing head may be releasable by means associated with the flap opening means. The closure flaps 17, Fig. 1, are pivoted at 16 and pressure on the finger pieces 22 which are pivoted at 20 to the lever arm 19 forces the flaps 17 open to allow the removal of accumulated hair. Increased pressure forces the latches 7 of the spring-release mechanism inwardly to release the bolts 2 so that the shearing head may be removed from the handle 1. In the modification shown in Fig. 6 the pivotal closure flaps 17<1> are mounted by a bent-off lower portion 37 of pivotal troughshaped finger pieces 22 so that pressure brings the nose 41 into contact with the stop 30 and partly opers the closure flap. To remove the shearing head from the handle the fingers of the other hand are used to press back the open closure flap 17<1> until the part 37 comes into contact with the upstanding terminal projections 33 of the latch 7<1>. The projections 33 may be replaced by a depending edge and a corresponding recess is provided in the finger piece. In a further modification the movements of the lever arm 19 of Fig. 1 are used to operate the latches 7 the finger pieces 22 being dispensed with and in another modification the closures are slidable and have lobes or knobs which actuate the latches on continued movement of the closure.
