Abstract
576,947. Variable-speed gearing. CAMILLIS, L. Feb. 17, 1944, No. 2939. [Class 80 (ii)] In a chain-shifting mechanism for cycles of the kind described in Specification 457,480 and comprising a jockey sprocket 10 mounted upon a transverse axle 11 and a tensioning sprocket 19 mounted upon a swinging arm 16, both sprockets and arm 16 being movable transversely upon the axle 11 to move the chain from one position to another, a side plate 23 is provided spaced apart from the arm 16 to serve as a chain guide. Lugs 22 and 24 are formed on the arm 16 and plate 23 respectively to engage with a distance piece 25, the other end of plate 23 being secured to the axle of the tensioning sprocket.
