576,396. Dressing grinding wheels. DAVIS, R. G. (trading as ROTARY COMPONENTS). May 9, 1944, No. 8752. [Class 60] A device for use in the dressing of a. grinding- wheel A by means of a star-wheel dresser e, comprises a table C adapted to be placed on the tool rest B of the grinding-machine, and provided with two lugs c having downward projections c<1>, which engage the forward face of the rest B and are spaced apart sufficiently to allow the periphery of the wheel A to pass between them ; the lugs c may be laterally adjustable. Extending across the table C is an abutment D with end lugs d, the abutment serving as a rest for the lugs F of the mounting E carrying the dressing-wheel e, which is moved against the wheel A by a handle e<2>. The lugs F have a transverse hole therein to receive a pin f, which also passes through the lugs d to keep the dressing-tool and the table together when not in use. In order to retain the table C in position, a spring-pressed pin g<1> may be provided to engage the rear face of the rest B, the pin 'gl being carried by a bar G mounted on the table C ; in place of the pin, a lever may be provided, pivoted to the bar and engaging a leaf spring bearing at its ends against the rest. According to the Provisional Specification, a double-armed toggle lever may be employed to retain the table in position.
