Abstract

Synthetic rubber of the butadiene type, e.g. butadiene-styrene and butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, is vulcanized to produce a product more nearly resembling natural rubber, by adding to the mix, containing sulphur, an organic accelerator and cyclohexylamine, dicyclohexylamine, or a compound thereof with a hydroxy aromatic compound containing one or more hydroxyl substituents in the nucleus, but no other substituent except one or more hydrocarbons, e.g. o-, m- or p-cresol, catechol, resorcinol, quinol, a - or b - naphthol, or a benzylated cresol, particularly cyclohexyl-ammonium cresylate or cyclohexylammonium resorcinate.
