Abstract
575,986. Order-telegraphs. CHADBURNS (LIVERPOOL), Ltd., (formerly CHADBURN'S (SHIP) TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd.,), and PIGOTT, S. T. May 19, 1944, No. 9641. [Class 118 (ii)] A telegraph order-receiver and an indicator operated by the apparatus to which the orders apply, for showing the effect of carrying out the orders received (both visible to the person carrying out the orders), have pointers traversing a common or neighbouring paths whereby they may be readily maintained in register. As shown, a ship's telegraph "revolutions required" receiver 13 having an index 19 mounted on a rotatable toothed ring 15 is incorporated in a propeller speed indicator 10 having a pointer 12, so that to ensure the required propeller speed the engines must be controlled to maintain the pointer 12 in register with the index 19. The shaft 14, rotated by the transmitter on the bridge, sets the ring and index to the required position through rotation of a wheel having a single tooth 18 and geared 1 : 1 to the shaft 14.
