Abstract

575,247. Turning. SCHYPIRO, M. March 10, 1944, No. 4531. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe &c. tool holder which is capable of removal and return to a turret or tool post without altering the height of the tool consists, in one form, of a pillar b, Fig. 2, slotted to receive a tool d clamped by a stud f and screwed externally for receiving a tightly fitting heightadjusting nut c engaging the under surface of the turret a. A hollow clamping bolt h screws into an enlarged bore g in the pillar to secure the holder in an aperture j in the turret, a slotted washer i being placed between the head of the bolt and the turret so that after lateral withdrawal of the washer the tool assembly may pass downwardly through the aperture j for removal. In another form the pillar b, Fig. 3, is clamped to the turret a by a nut k screwing thereon and a height-adjusting nut c, both nuts having rotatable washers c<1> attached thereto, and the aperture in the turret is slotted to allow lateral removal of the tool assembly. In another form the pillar b, Fig. 4, is secured above the turret a by a stud n screwing therein and engaging the turret through a slotted washer o, and the height of the tool is adjusted by a nut c. The turret a has four lugs a<1> at the corners, of the type appropriate to receive the tool assembly.
