Abstract
575,222. Delivering measured quantities of seeds &c. STEVENS, A. G., and STEVENS, A. E. March 8, 1944, No. 4295. [Class 106 (v)] [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of granular material such as seeds, of the kind comprising a rotatable grooved wheel A disposed vertically within a hopper and having a series of pockets along the bottom of the groove, is provided with a tangentially arranged pivoted wiper bar C formed with a tapered end C<1> to fit the groove, the bar being held in light contact with the groove by a spring. The tapered end C' is preferably made of rubber or like resilient material. A guide block B of the full width of the hopper and having an inclined upper surface extends into the groove on one side of the wheel A, while on the opposite side premature discharge of the pockets is prevented by shaping the wall G to fit the groove.
