Abstract
574,514. Catalysts. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I., and SIGNAIGO, F. K. March 5, 1941, No. 3005. [Classes 1 (i) and 1 (ii)] Hydrogenation catalysts are obtained by subjecting a finely divided metal in activated or pyrophoric form to a sulphiding agent while removing the heat of reaction so as to maintain the temperature below 150‹C. The treatment may be effected in presence of an inert organic liquid. Specified metals are cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, iron, tungsten, chromium, cadmium, lead and palladium. As sulphiding agents may be used sulphur, hydrogen sulphide, carbon disulphide, or mercaptans.
