574,409. Collar supports for personal wear. WEINER, B. May 8, 1944, No. 8748. [Class 141] A support for the flaps of soft collars of the type comprising a resilient wire member with telescopic limbs, has its limbs each formed from two leg parts, telescoping within and connected by a helical tension spring. As shown, the wire member has a curved central portion 1 which passes above the collar stud and has outward loops 2 and extensions forming upper leg parts 3 passing inside the springs 4 and attached to their lower ends at 5. Each of the two lower leg parts passes within the spring and is attached to its upper end at 7. The lower parts have spikes for engagement with the points of the collar and may have loops 8 to limit their penetration. The telescopic limbs are normally longer than the collar wings so that the points of the latter are urged downward by the tension of the springs. In a modification, the leg parts are formed integrally with the springs.
