Abstract

573,552. Gas burners. RADIANT-HEATING, Ltd., and DOCKING, A. March 22, 1944, No. 5340. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XII] A radiant heating device, particularly for heating salt, galvanising, or tinning baths, comprises refractory blocks 1 spaced apart to form vertical elongated slots 3 and supported in a pan-like base 2 having openings 4 registering with the slots 3, burners 5, having spaced apertures 6, being arranged below the slots whose upper ends are covered by refractory angle-shaped channels 7 formed with cut-away portions 9 for escape of the combustion products. The ends of the slots 3 are closed by refractory slabs 8 which, together with projections 1b on the end blocks 1, extend upwardly at least to the height of the ridges of the channels 7. Humps la on the blocks 1 serve to position the covers 7 while the blocks may be formed, on their undersides, with voids in which are fitted slabs 10 of heat insulating material.
